INDUCOOL-Compact chilled ceiling panel

The INDUCOOL-Compact is a high performance chilled ceiling panel. Cooling is carried out using air and water simultaneously. Supply air is distributed with no draught by the integral linear diffuser to the occupied zones. This process significantly raises the heat transfer rate and cooling capacity.

The strengths of INDUCOOL-Compact

Energy

Low energy demand due to free cooling, hygienic minimum air flow rate and dissipation of residual heat via cold water.

Design

Elegant aluminium profiles form a design feature, whilst the modest space requirement in the ceiling allows architects and interior designers plenty of creative freedom.

Technology

The highly inductive, integral linear diffuser meets even the most exacting requirements for thermal comfort.

Function

Through its induction effect, the integral linear diffuser draws warm ambient air across the water-cooled, finned aluminium plates. Depending on its size, a cooling capacity of up to 500 W/m can be achieved. It is therefore sufficient to cover just 5-10 % of the ceiling area with INDUCOOL panels. The remainder of the ceiling is kept free, leaving architects and interior designers with plenty of options. Induction on the underside of the INDUCOOL panel – and therefore directly within the room – ensures the different air velocities and temperatures are rapidly balanced out. This meets the most exacting requirements for thermal comfort in the occupied zone.

Cooling capacity Up to 500 W/m
Panel width 295 mm
Panel length 500 - 1750 mm
Installation height 145 mm
Surface covered 5 - 10 %
The classical INDUCOOL ambient air flow

INDUCOOL ambient air flow

Supply air is fed into the system through a connector and then distributed via a plenum box along the entire length of the cooling panel. The supply air then enters the interior through fine nozzles located between the fins. This highly inductive air distribution method results in excellent heat transfer and effective cooling of the induced ambient air. The heat extracted from the ambient air is dissipated by water through serpentine copper tubing. The high induction level rapidly balances out the different temperatures and velocities of the supply air. The fine jets of air discharged ensure a draught-free ambient air flow.

Cooling with air and water – air flow video

The INDUCOOL integrates air and water cooling, combining the benefits of both media to make the process twice as economical. The average annual outside temperature in Central Europe is between 8 °C and 10 °C. Considerable energy can be saved if the cooling capacity of the outdoor air – which is required in any case for a healthy air change rate – is also used for air cooling. Additional cooling with water is restricted to periods when the cooling capacity of the outdoor air would be insufficient.

Installation situation

The compact design with an installed height of just 145 mm allows the unit to be integrated into almost any ceiling system. The installed height of 145 mm is the distance from the upper edge of the plenum box to the lower edge of the finned plate.

Arrangement and installation

A variety of ceiling connection profiles ensures perfect integration into all ceiling types. In the case of closed ceiling systems, service access is still possible via the INDUCOOL array. Architects and interior designers therefore have a great deal of freedom in ceiling design with INDUCOOL panels, no matter whether continuous arrays or individual panels are chosen.
